Welcome to the Prison Service Sports Association
The PSSA is a not for profit association set up for staff employed within HM Prison Service, Private Sector Prisons and staff on long term contracts with external agencies working within establishments.
It’s all about having fun, getting active, taking part, and trying out sports. It's not all about sport - we support many leisure activities too.
Many opportunities to meet colleagues old and new! If you want to be part of a fabulous members association dedicated to providing sporting and leisure opportunities for Prison Service staff….read on! If you have an idea for a local activity and would like our support please contact us.
We also run the Prison Service Lottery which is open to all members of staff working in prison service establishments. We award 12 prizes each month, totalling £9,000. We have a special draw at Christmas.
How do I join?
HMPS or Private
Any person who is either directly employed by HM Prison Service or Private Sector prisons or who works in an establishment whether in education/healthcare etc, can apply for membership.

Payments
All HMP staff will have their membership deducted straight from their salary. All Private Sector staff or those who have an external contract will pay annually.

Standard Membership is
£42 per Year.

£27 per Year
About Us
The PSSA is an association set up to encourage sporting and leisure activities for the benefit of staff of the Prison Service (England & Wales) and Private Sector Prisons.
We are involved with various sports including Angling; Netball; Ice Hockey; Football; Rugby and Volleyball. Fixtures are arranged from grassroots to national and international events. So whether you are an active player or just want to get involved, there is something for you. We are often able to offer discounts and subsidies to PSSA Members.
We arrange discounted leisure events ranging from theatre trips, 3 Peaks Challenge, shopping trips and our annual Christmas Party.
We take a team to the World Police & Fire Games every two years. We generally bring home a cache of medals. This event is hosted worldwide and attracts in the region of 10,000 – 15,000 competitors from all over the world taking part in over 40 Sports.
