As the PSSA Representative for Swansea, I am looking to reestablish the PSSA Judo Club as a Sporting Body.

I have interest from several members of staff here that already compete and would like to belong to a club that combines both their passion for Judo and their working in the Prison Service; therefore, I would like to extend this invitation to others in the form of a new Governing Body of Sport.

I would like to put myself forward as point of contact; I would help set up the membership through the PSSA and hopefully gain interest from staff. Currently, I work with the head of the Welsh Judo Association and could get support in terms of prepping seminars and getting guests to help take classes that we would prepare.

About me – Jack Haberfield: I am a 1st Dan Black Belt in Judo, 1st kyu in Japanese Ju-Jitsu, Former Welsh National team wrestler and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt. National Team member for Wales in Judo and formerly ranked #2 in Wales and #15 in Britain for my weight class. I was also the first Welsh person to grade in the new criteria for Black belts in the UK.

I would encourage any staff members (regardless of rank or experience, from novice to expert), to contact me so I can get this off the ground.

PSSA

The PSSA is a not for profit association set up for staff employed within HM Prison Service, Private Sector Prisons, and staff on long term contracts with external agencies working within establishments.

It’s all about having fun, getting active, taking part, and trying out sports.  It's not all about sport - we support many leisure activities too.
