at Billericay Town FC, New Lodge
It was a warm and sunny afternoon in the south of the country as the England prison service football team lined up to play Lloyds FC at Billericay town fc. The England team were coming into the game with a lack of game town due to several game cancellations earlier in the year. A few more familiar faces were back in the England line up today but also some new faces looking to impress.
The game kicked off and it was the Lloyds side with the early possession and causing the England defence problems forcing the England keeper into some early saves.
The national side soon found their feet and began to take control of possession creating some great link up play, a great move saw Burton with a chance to fire the side into the lead which he did! 1 nil England!
The game shifted again with Lloyds piling attack upon attack on the England side, A long diagonal ball across saw the Lloyds winger in behind the defence. He played a ball across the box which the striker tapped home 1-1. The game continued in the same fashion with the England side struggling to get out of their own half. A mistake from the back four looking to play out saw a chance from Lloyds taken! 2-1 Lloyds.
With the first half drawing to a close England won a free kick in the Lloyds half, a long-floated ball into the box created chaos for the Lloyds defence which led to De’Ath being able to tap home from close range 2-2 against the run of play.
The second half kicked off and whatever was said in the dressing room clearly worked as the national side started the second half with a point to prove. They began keeping possession and creating more chances up top. Another good move from the attacking players saw the ball land at the feet of newcomer Chockka who curled a brilliant shot into the top corner! 3-2 England!
The second half saw both teams with plenty of the ball and both keepers with lots to do.
As the game was drawing to a close Burton was brought down by the Lloyds defender! Penalty to England! England forward stepped up but was thwarted by the Lloyds keeper who pulled off a great save.
The game came to a close with the national side winning 3-2. Thank you to Lloyds Fc for the match and a big thank you to Billericay FC for their hospitality.
